Introduction: A retrospective review of all patients transferred by helicopter ambulance to the Great Western Hospital over a 20-month period between January 2003 and September 2004 was undertaken to establish the case-mix of patients (trauma and non-trauma) transferred and the outcome.
Discussion: Helicopter ambulance transfer in the acute setting is of debated value. Triage criteria are at fault if as many as 41% of patients transferred are being discharged home from casualty having incurred the financial cost of helicopter transfer. We suggest that the triage criteria for helicopter emergency transfer should be reviewed.
Since our launch in 2000 we have attended over 26,000 lifesaving missions, touching the lives of many thousands of people. Our charity operates out of two helicopters 07:00 until 19:00 from our Norwich base and from 07:00 until midnight from our Cambridge base. We were the first air ambulance in the country to attend helicopter emergency medical incidents in the hours of darkness to unknown and unlit sites.

This Dauphin has been used as an air ambulance for many years in several different colour schemes to promote the main sponsor. I used the old Matchbox Dauphin with the Whirlybirds resin interior and decals for the Virgin scheme;
They are very nice kits but be aware of the different parts in the various boxings, some are better suited to doing an air ambulance than others. I'll look out for them in the Ready For Inspection area!
Good advice, but i'm actually really pleased with the Air Glaciers boxing. In addition to the air ambulance interior it contains an extra sprue that originally came with the EC635 boxing. This has all manner of aerials and attachments that means many configurations will be covered OOB. I'm sure it won't be as easy as that when it comes to it though
