Some users claim to have problems with the USB connection on their computer. From what I have seen, you shouldn't have to deal with this. If you have problems, try the Windows driver installation instructions.
If the device does not have an AUX jack, then you should use the AUX IN and AUX OUT instructions, because the sound card's AC97 (or similar) chipset requires that the microphone be connected to the sound card's digital output rather than the sound card's line-in. If the instructions are confusing, see the user guide for more information.
User guide says tap 2 for AUDIO IN and tap 3 for AUDIO OUT. This is wrong. You should use tap 2 and 3. It is a reference to the IN and OUT on the back of the device. These are the analogue audio jacks. Tap 2 and 3 are for the digital output and audio input respectively. The audio output is connected to the sound card's line in and audio input is connected to the computer's microphone jack.
Some users have great trouble getting recordings with a USB audio interface to play back in their computer. For instance, the USB audio interface may have a different sample rate (usually 48kHz) from the computer's master output (usually 44.1kHz) or the USB audio interface may not be set to output stereo. Audacity lets you use your audio interface's settings to match the computer's settings. Some interfaces, like the Sonivox USB interface, can output both 48kHz PCM and 44.1kHz stereo, so in this case just play back the audio in Audacity in 44.1kHz stereo.
The device manufacturer's CD usually contains drivers and user guides, which can be used to control your external sound card. Please note that the driver provided by the manufacturer, even if it is a beta version, will never provide access to the device's internal mute, volume and gain controls, so you have to set them yourself. However, some programs, such as our Pro-Audio USB player, can be controlled from the driver, so you can use the driver to control the device's internal mute, volume and gain if the program you are using can do so.
It is also possible to use the external sound card together with the ASIO driver from Windows, but this is limited to the computer's default sound device and will not work if the external sound card is set as the default device. This was actually the way Windows used to handle ASIO devices before Windows Vista.
It is not possible to use the external sound card directly connected to the computer's sound card, such as from an onboard sound card, a motherboard's speaker or the computer's built-in microphone. The external sound card is designed to be used as an independent audio device, and it is intended to be used with a USB hub. However, in some cases, the hub's presence and configuration can limit the external sound card's capabilities. 827ec27edc
