And Antony slept with them and ate with them, and nourished them, when he had need of food. And they in all things followed his directions, not as men who have been taught by another, but as men who have learned of him themselves. For Antony showed them that all things that are of the earth and of the world were earthly and of this world, and not spiritual and divine, 1 Corinthians 2:14; and that, therefore, they who are of the earthly and of the world do not know God, who is of the spiritual and divine nature: for God is the only fountain of life, and he who is satisfied with life has life, and he who is not satisfied with life is dead, Luke 10:38. And therefore Antony, when he had seen these, bade them call him brother, for he was a simple and single man, as he had lived his whole life before, having never known anyone whom he could call his brother.
