Things take a turn when the Bollywood version of Singam comes out. The viewers begin to expect more from the movie and hence, movie buff and critics dub the movie as a Singam without Singam. Indeed, the movie is a Singam without Singam. The movie is decidedly focused on action, however, goes on to become a big hit. The movie is an action extravaganza, which is very well crafted. As expected, the character-centric portion of the movie suffers. To begin with, the movie lacks character development and the characters do not do a complete 180 turn. For example, the family of all 3 leads has been regular. The rest of the characters are irrelevant and are thrown in there to make things happen.
The action sequences are an exceptional treat. The choreography is on the mark and the fight sequences are thrilling. The movie entertains throughout. The story is predictable and the music score is not good. The songs are fit to the action, however, they are not as catchy as they are in the South.
The movie is about an RTI activist and an orphan named Vikram (Rajinikanth). He is battling the system of corruption of the government. His fight is in his own country, and people in the city are standing with him in support.
And finally: The year 2011 saw a few South Indian films that were dubbed into Hindi, namely Singam, Bodyguard and Goa. The audiences in Hindi-speaking countries liked the remakes and the films ended up doing extremely well. In fact, Goa was deemed to have made 7 crores at the box office! So, Bollywood is learning from the South Indian film industry in terms of churning out hit movies.
The audience in India has clearly shown that they prefer the South Indian films over the Hindi films. The reasons given by the audience for this preference are simple, the content, the well-written script, the acting, the originality of the story, the action scenes, and the overall look of the movie. The audiences in India have clearly shown that they like the movies from the South. The audience is developing a liking for the films from the South, which is again a good sign for the South Indian film industry.
This is the first time in the history of Indian cinema that a film from the South has gone way and beyond the commercial box office figures. Even Hollywood is planning to make a remake of the movie. This is not surprising because Hollywood has also started to use the South Indian film industry for some of their remakes. It would be interesting to see how the Hollywood remake will turn out to be.
The film became a trend-setter in the Telugu industry and was a commercial success. Goa was remade in Kannada as Bangarada Panjara (2012) with Ravichandran and in Hindi as Once More with Hrithik Roshan (Hrithik Roshan) in 2013. The film was dubbed in Tamil as Aval Pournami in 2014. The film was remade in Odia as Balam Pichchuli in 2015.
In Goa, Venkat Prabhu seems to have been influenced by the commercial success of the 2007 Kannada movie Solo. The director has also tried his hands at the same genre in his earlier movie, Sharana, which was released in 2008. 827ec27edc
