If you are seeing a license validation failure for some users, it should be possible to fix this by installing an updated version of the license server (ie. the installation package should contain an updated license server). There can also be an issue on a client PC which is using a standalone license, but not signed into the Altium portal. In this case it is possible that the license server has not been updated to include the latest version of the license server API (see the license server API documentation), and so the client-side license validation code will not work. This is a known issue, and we are working on a fix.
What I'm hoping to do with this issue is to gather a list of all user license numbers, and the associated license type information (On-Demand, Standalone etc.), so I can try and gather together a list of all the users which are currently using an On-Demand license, and figure out why they are seeing this validation failure. If anyone thinks they have been affected by this issue and is able to share the license number (if applicable) and license type information then I will try and get this logged with the correct Altium support.
I do not intend to implement a Roaming feature for licenses in the near future. This is because, as mentioned, you are not required to stay connected to the internet to use a license in an On-Demand mode. At the moment you can use an On-Demand license, without your license being released, as long as you sign out and back in again (though there will be a warning dialog) when you are not signed into the Altium portal.
