Battle Angel Alita, an early-1990s Japanese cyberpunk manga series written by Yukito Kishiro, was originally brought to James Cameron's attention by filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, and Cameron immediately became enamored with the concept.[11][12][13][14][15] The domain name \"battleangelalita.com\" was registered to James Cameron by 20th Century Fox around June 2000.[16] Fox also registered the \"battleangelmovie.com\" domain.[17] In April 2003, it was reported by Moviehole that Cameron had confirmed he would direct a Battle Angel film.[18] Cameron confirmed that a script for the film was in production during an interview on the Tokudane! program on Fuji TV on May 4, 2003.[19] It was originally scheduled to be his next production after the TV series Dark Angel,[20] which was influenced by Battle Angel Alita.[21] It was later scheduled to be his next film after Aliens of the Deep in January 2005.[22]
During the semi-finals of the Z.O.T.T, Alita's new body underwent a total system overhaul twice. To follow suite her Imaginos fused Damascus Blade also changed in various ways, firstly sporting a new design to go with her newfound look and again finally after her second deconstruction and rebirth at the hands of Toji, coming off in the form fitting semblance with her angelic motif.
Released back in 2019 and directed by Robert Rodriguez, Alita: Battle Angel is based on Yukito Kishiro's manga Gunnm and follows a young girl named Alita, a battle cyborg who awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize. She is taken in by Ido, a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past.
Alita: Battle Angel centers on the aforementioned cyborg Alita (Salazar), who is found clinging to life by Dr. Ido (Christoph Waltz) who raises Alita in the futuristic underground world of Iron City, ravaged after a centuries-old war. Alita has little recollection of her past before living with Ido, but slowly discovers her background and her role to play in this new world via a battle-royale style game called Motorball, as well as via bounty hunters, and the villainous Vector (Mahershala Ali) who presides over the sky city of Zalem, home only to the wealthy and those who win the Motorball tournament.
In the 23rd century, a catastrophic war known as \"The Fall\" aka \"The Great War\" has left Earth devastated. 300 years later, in 2563, while scouting the junkyard metropolis of Iron City, cyborg scientist Dr. Dyson Ido discovers a disembodied female cyborg with a fully intact human brain. Ido attaches a cyborg body to the brain, who does not have any recollections of her past, and names her \"Alita\" after his deceased daughter, for whom he originally built the body. Alita meets her new friend Hugo who dreams of moving to the wealthy sky city of Zalem. Hugo introduces her to the competitive sport of Motorball, a battle royale race wherein cyborgs fight to the death.
Ido transplants Hugo's head onto a cyborg body before telling Alita that Hugo's actions were based upon the false belief that he would be able to eventually buy his way into Zalem. Ido confides that this was a lie fabricated by Vector, and that citizens of Iron City cannot enter Zalem unless they become Motorball champion. Alita decides to confront Vector, who is being mind-controlled by Nova, a powerful Zalem scientist. Through Vector, Nova reveals to Alita that Chiren has been harvested for her organs and then orders Grewishka to kill her. Alita battles Grewishka again and this time, thanks to her new equipment, finally kills him with ease, then stabs Vector, telling Nova that he made the mistake of underestimating her. 59ce067264
